Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: In Vino Virilitas Walkthrough

Vladislav Sham

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the quest In Vino Virilitas takes you into the world of winemaking, where the protagonist helps aspiring winemaker Kaspar Rudolf uncover the secrets of the craft. You will need to infiltrate monastery vineyards, discover the wine recipe, and use your wits to complete the task. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the quest and the rewards you can earn for completing it.

How to Start the In Vino Virilitas Quest

Find the wine merchant named Kaspar Rudolf. He can be found to the left of the city fountain, near the western gates of the town of Kutna Hora in the Kuttenberg region. Upon deciding to try his wine, you quickly realize that the beverage leaves much to be desired.

Kaspar, lamenting, admits that his inexperience is to blame. He recently acquired a vineyard and decided to take up winemaking, but unfortunately, the wine is mediocre so far. The merchant will ask you to help him uncover the secrets of the craft by consulting the best wine connoisseur in the area — the owner of the tavern "Emperor Karl."

Kaspar Rudolf

To fulfill Kaspar's request, you will need to play the role of a sommelier. This requires reading a book on wine, which can be found with a former acquaintance of the local winemaker.

Study Kaspar's Wine Books

Head to the southeast exit of the inner city. Your goal is to get into the enclosed garden.

There are two ways to get inside:

Through Hugo Mannlicher: You can try to negotiate with Hugo by passing a persuasion check. If diplomacy fails, the only option left is to resolve the issue by force and engage him in a fight.

Hugo Mannlicher

Through the Fortress Wall: To the left of the city exit, find a tower. Climb onto the fortress wall and move right to the next tower. Descend it, and you will find yourself directly in the garden.

In the garden, talk to a girl named Adleta Mannlicher. Tell her you need the book that Kaspar once gave her.

Adleta Mannlicher

Try to convince her to give you the book by passing a persuasion check. If this doesn't work, Adleta will ask you to give her a small gift — collect five flowers growing nearby and exchange them for the book. As a last resort, you can simply steal it.

Pull the Wool Over Innkeeper Havel's Eyes

Read the book "Wisdom of the Winemaker" by Pan Bushek, then head to the tavern "Emperor Karl." Find innkeeper Havel and sit with him at a table. Say you want to discuss wines with him. In all questions where a drunkenness check is not required, choose the second answer option. The only exceptions are questions about wines from your country of origin.

If you said you are from Germany, point to the wine "Steinberger". If from Italy — choose "Vin Santo". If you claimed to be from France, answer "Avignon" to the question about the best wine.

Innkeeper Havel

If you fail to convince the innkeeper, he will take you for a tax collector. In this case, you will have to look for information in his office.

The office is on the third floor, to the left of the room the protagonist can rent. Innkeeper Havel's ledger is in the chest. To get to it, pick the lock on the floor by the door to the left.

No matter how you learn the innkeeper's secrets, you will find out that you need to get into the monastery vineyards.

Report Your Findings to Kaspar

Return to the fountain where winemaker Kaspar awaits you. Tell him what you learned about the monastery secrets, that their mysteries need to be sought in the vineyards. Kaspar will ask you to infiltrate there, discover the wine recipe, and steal a grapevine.

Get Hired at the Vineyard

Find the vineyard located near the northern city gates. Approach the recruiter at the entrance to the territory. He will explain the work order to you. Agree to the offer, and he will send you to overseer Jeronim. At this moment, the task "Under the Straw Hat" will begin.

Talk to Overseer Jeronim

Overseer Jeronim stands by the vineyard house located in the very center of the vineyard. He will tell you about the local customs and explain what your work will entail. You will have to deal with weeding on the vineyard. After that, follow the overseer — he will show you the hut where you can rest until the next morning.

Work on the Monastery Vineyard

Start your shift at 06:00 AM. You will need to collect weeds near the grapevines. Weeds include chamomile, St. John's wort, and other plants you will see — nothing but grapes should remain on the vineyard. You will also need to carry bags to the pallet located to the right of the hut where the laborers sleep.

Work until 18:00 to complete the shift until the bells ring. There is a way to speed up the process a bit: carry bags once every two hours. When you approach the bag that needs to be taken to the pallet, just wait a couple of hours, but do not do this in front of the overseer, otherwise, you will fail the quest.

Go to Collect Your Wages

Return to Jeronim and receive your modest reward for the work done. Even if you didn't manage the laborer's duties, it won't prevent you from stealing the monastery's secrets. The main goal of this task is to give you the opportunity, while working on the vineyard grounds, to discreetly gather the necessary information.

Uncover the Monastery Secret

Go to the cellar, following the cook who is in the basement of the main vineyard house. Remember that your presence here is illegal. Pick the lock on the left door and find a chest inside. Take the sulfur wicks from it.

Bring the Vines for Kaspar

Go to the courtyard of the main vineyard house through the first floor. From the right side of the door, pick five grapevines from the flowerbed, acting so that no one notices you.

Deliver the Monastery Secret to Kaspar

Return to the winemaker and delight him by informing that you brought everything he asked for. As a reward, he will give you a generous compensation. If you also brought a grapevine, he will add a little extra.

Alternative Quest Completion

You can obtain the sulfur and grapevine either before the quest begins or immediately after it starts. However, you can only complete the quest after talking to innkeeper Havel, after which you can go to the winemaker for the rewards.
