Throughout the game, you will encounter many locked locks. They are divided into five categories:

Very Easy.
Easy.
Medium.
Hard.
Very Hard.

The type of lock affects the size of the picking area. It can be increased by the "Thievery" skill. You will need to level up this skill if you plan to open all the chests along your way.

How to Develop the "Thievery" Skill

Early in the game, you can pick very easy locks and pickpocket people while they sleep. As a result, you will earn extra money, learn how to pick locks, and level up the "Thievery" skill. It is advisable to develop it to level 20. To avoid wasting lockpicks, you can save before each lockpicking attempt and reload if it fails.

Tip: You can quickly save progress by selecting "Save and Exit" in the main menu.

How to Make Lockpicking Easier

Activate the "Tool Master" perk. It adds 15% durability to all lockpicks;
Learn the "Mischief Artist" skill. Thanks to it, after each successful pickpocket or lockpicking, the "Thievery" skill will increase by 3 points.
Buy the "Strong Quickfinger" potion. This will increase the effectiveness of Thievery by 6 points. You can purchase this potion from the apothecary in Kuttenberg. Access to it will open after completing the 14th main storyline quest called "Speak of the Devil". The base price of the potion is 45 groschen, but it may vary depending on your reputation.

How to Pick Locks in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Get lockpicks. They can be found in chests and people's pockets during thefts, as well as purchased from merchants.
Approach the locked lock and press the action button.
A mini-game will begin. You need to find the position where the pin lights up in gold. Then hold the trigger on the gamepad (R2 on PS5, RT on Xbox) to turn the lock mechanism. It is important that the pin remains lit the entire time. Adjust its position so it doesn't go out. If it does, the lockpick will break.
