Super Mario Kart is a third-person racing game. The player has access to 8 playable characters — Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong Jr., Koopa Troopa and Toad. At the same time, the degree of acceleration, maximum speed and control map of each character are differentiated. In single-player mode, the player controls a selected character, while the rest are controlled by AI. In this case, the screen is divided into two parts: in the upper part the game process itself is displayed, and in the lower part there is a simplified view of the track with the position of the participants on it. In two-player mode, the bottom and top of the screen depict gameplay from the first and second players, respectively.
