ALFA: Antiterror — Advanced War Tactics — the player takes on the role of a young soldier who becomes a member of ALFA, the Russian counter-terrorism force. Over the course of 22 missions, he rises in rank until he commands 16 soldiers. Mission objectives are mainly to defend a position, liberate a map, or rescue hostages. In addition to the campaign, there are also single-player scenarios.
Before each mission, the player selects his team members and their equipment. The mission then begins the first planning phase, where he gives orders to his team, such as moving to a point and then attacking the enemy. In the next action phase, he watches as his orders and those of his opponent are carried out simultaneously.
