Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has unveiled the full trailer for their role-playing game, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The video showcases cinematic scenes and some gameplay footage.

What we know about the project:

  • Development began over two years ago on Unreal Engine 5, with extended gameplay set to be showcased in the summer of 2025;
  • The project is led by former The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and former Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz;
  • The focus is on a "narrative sandbox", ensuring each playthrough is unique;
  • The main setting is the "Veil of Sangora" region in 14th-century medieval Europe;
  • The in-game world is ravaged by plague, famine, and social unrest;
  • The project draws inspiration from Eastern European architecture and culture: Polish log houses, Ukrainian and Balkan clothing, Romanian fortified churches, and more;
  • The plot follows vampires closely observing humanity's decline and preparing to strike;
  • A day-night cycle plays a significant role;
  • The protagonist is a character named Cohen, who is a hybrid between a vampire and a human;
  • By day, the hero fights with melee weapons, and by night, he can use vampiric abilities;
  • The character has 30 days and 30 nights to save his family, with time advancing with each quest;
  • Throughout the journey, the hero will encounter various characters who can become allies or enemies;
  • One of the gameplay mechanics involves bloodthirst;
  • If the character goes too long without "feeding," he may go mad from bloodlust and attack a friend;
  • In the game world, vampire teeth grow with age. The older the vampire, the more teeth they have;
  • The head of the vampires is someone named Brensis. He is described as an ancient figure seeking to change the world order and overthrow humanity;
  • The game won't be "black and white" in terms of characters. Each side has its positives and negatives;
  • Brensis will react in real-time to the player's actions. For example, he will give orders to his minions and interfere with the protagonist's quests.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The exact release date is not yet announced. The publisher is Bandai Namco Entertainment.
