The storyline quest "Back in the Saddle" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 leads our heroes to the mysterious Nebakov Fortress with an important message from Lord Otto of Bergov. In this guide, we will detail the walkthrough of this quest, as well as share how to find the real Lord Nebakov and where to look for all the necessary clues.
After a lengthy conversation with Lord Bergov, follow the manager Ulrich and listen to him. A marker will appear on the map indicating where you can retrieve your personal items. They are in a chest in a small building in the courtyard, to the right of the blacksmith.
Depending on the time of day, you may find Jan in different places in Trosky Castle. But if you approach him after noon, he will suggest getting some sleep and meeting at dawn at the second gate.
In the second conversation, the lord will start apologizing to Henry. You can choose an option that will strengthen your relationship. Get on your horse and follow your friend.
This is an optional quest, you can simply follow him. If you want to overtake the nobleman, we recommend riding through the rough terrain rather than the roads. Upon reaching the chapel at the crossroads, the quest will update. You can then choose to have a conversation with your friend or immediately move to Nebakov Fortress (the last response option "Quickly to Nebakov!"). We recommend exhausting all dialogue options beforehand, as this will increase Henry's reputation.
The task will automatically be completed once you finish all available activities in the fortress. When Henry says "The meeting is probably over," just return to the fortress gates.
Talk to Michael. You can tell him about Lord Ptacek's plans, which will not affect the storyline further, but will slightly increase your reputation. Then you can participate in a fight with this character. The opponent is quite strong and also has a shield and armor. If you manage to defeat him, you will gain some reputation and spurs with wheels.
Head to the stables and find a villager in yellow attire. Agree to follow him to learn some information. The old man won't tell anything in detail, but Henry will suspect something is wrong.
Immediately after this, return to the horse pen and find the groom. If you manage to pass a skill check, you will learn the story: the lord and his squad took the horses from bandits nearby. Remember it and return to Michael.
Ask the lord's assistant the same question as the groom. You will be surprised, but the answer will be completely different. Michael will tell a story that his master inherited the horses. This time, no checks will be required. Pretend you know nothing about the second story.
Climb to the upper tower and enter the courtyard next to the kitchen. Under the wooden stairs, you will see a guard, and to his right, locked doors to the dungeon. The guard never leaves his post, so you will have to deal with him: kill or strangle him — it's up to you.
Enter the kitchen and exit through the second door. Sneak under the tower walls to get behind the sentinel. Deal with him and take the key — this will allow you to access the dungeon.
Once inside, behind the bars, find the real Lord Nebakov. He will ask you to report everything to Lord Bergov. Exhaust all dialogues and return outside.
Once you find the real nobleman, the task "Explore the Fortress" will be completed. But you can also find additional clues related to the capture of the fortress. To do this, you need to go down to the lower part of the fortress and wait for one of the guards to leave to patrol the area. He will initially ask you not to meddle in this area, tell him that you understand everything.
When the armored guard leaves, crouch and slip past the second guard on the bench. Next to the building you need to enter, there are two workers. Another soldier stands on the watchtower. Try to distract them by throwing stones, then quickly climb inside. Here you will find many weapons, powder from the miller's stock, as well as the shield of the Lords of Lipa.
We have a separate guide on our website for seducing this girl, but you will first meet her in this quest. Since you can easily miss the meeting, examine the house with the wounded in the central part of the fortress and talk to the girl.
Agree to take a walk with Klara and tell her a few stories. Upon arriving at the clearing, gather the required amount of herbs (poppy, sage, and marigold). Once you do this, give the herbs and follow her into the forest thicket. There, the girl will pose a riddle. The answer: "I think it's a flower named Klara".
If you have completed all the actions described in the guide, go to Ptacek and say that you need to get out of here quickly. Tell about the captured fortress and choose what to do: report that Lord Semin's son may be connected with the invaders or not.
After the conversation with Otto, the quest will be completed.
